Con

Going to Comic Con San Diego in July. This is all.

Cha cha changes....

  • Mar. 14th, 2008 at 10:08 AM

Dateline Fairbanks!

I have a new job. I start on the 31st of March. It's doing something totally different then what I'm currently doing, and I'm looking forward to it. It had benefits which is awesome. The even better part is Ed and I can finally start working on a family!

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

FREAKING COLD!!!

  • Feb. 6th, 2008 at 3:48 PM

Well we missed work yesterday. The cold zapped our battery... again. Thank god our landlord is a mechanic and has a battery charger. Poor Ed he had to go warm up the car at midnight to make sure it would start in the morning. -50F sucks when your car won't start. Even more when you've gotta go in for Jury duty the next morning. My lungs still hurt from walking to the court house and back. >.<

At least the cold gives me an excuse to stay home and work on the comic. I've got Thursday's ready but I need to get my ass to work for next Tuesday's strip.

Just in case folks missed it www.everyday-geek.com ;)

Good news Bad news Better news

  • Jan. 31st, 2008 at 9:58 AM

Well... Bad news first.

I will no longer be posting my comic here.

Now for the good news. I now have my own domain so you can read the webcomic here www.everyday-geek.com The page isn't up yet but I'm working on that. I've got the forum running. www.everyday-geek.com/forum/ Feel free to stop in.

The better news. I've got one comic ready to go and another I'd say about a third of the way done. So stay toon folks (get it toon cause its a comic...)

Everyday Geek - He had it coming

Here it is Thursday again and just like I promised a brand new shiny comic.

Enjoy

What is this picture thing?

  • Jan. 18th, 2008 at 2:52 PM

For years now I've wanted to start my own comic. It's always been a dream of mine. When I was little I wanted to be a cartoonist. I drew everything I could think of. School I used it as an outlet to help me deal with some personal stuff. As I grew older it became a way for me to handle stress. These days it how I make my living. For me my art has always been closely tied to my emotions. I have good days and I have bad days, a temperamental artist if you will.

So let me describe what I'm trying to do with Everyday Geek. Its my dream realized. My baby. The thing I've been toying with for years.

So hang in there. I'm gonna have many bumps in the road. And I'm sure there will be more then one time I'm ready to throw my sketch book in the trash and give up, but I won't let it happen and my Hubby and friends won't let me fail. :)

So stay tune for Everyday Geek... the humor, the friends, and the overdose of pop culture references.

Everyday Geek

Just as Promised a comic for this week. We'll see what I've got in store for next week... after you know... I can think of something to write about or a friend inspires me.

This weeks comic was an actual conversation I had with my buddy Paulie.

If I get a wild hair I might color it.

Comics and scribbles...

  • Jan. 16th, 2008 at 9:11 AM

As many of you know for years I've wanted to start my own comic. I've done little strips here and there but nothing I was proud of. A few weeks ago I posted a question to web comics weekly (a pod cast done by Brad Guigar of Evil Inc., Dave Kellett of Sheldon, Kris Straub of Starslip Crisis, and Scott Kurtz of PvP) A fantastic podcast if you like those sorta things. Anyway I asked about starting a web comic. And well they hit the nail on the head. I've been afraid to start it mostly because I'm never happy with my art. So I've decided to post a weekly strip on my live journal. What the hell. Might as well give it a short right? I may post more then once a week I may post less we'll see. Sometimes it'll be just a sketch other times it may be a full blown comic. In time we'll see if I can keep this up.

And without further ado a few sketches.... and perhaps later today an actual comic....

I am the Vinyl Goddess

  • Jan. 14th, 2008 at 4:17 PM

Woot! Got our new vinyl cutter on Saturday (Would have had it on Friday but the post office Nazi wouldn't let us have it.) I put the stand on it and let it sit until Sunday. I just didn't have the energy to do anything with it. -35F has a way of sucking the fun right out of ya.

Sooo 10:30pm Sunday night my happy ass decides "Hey lets play with our new cutter." this is why folks I never get any sleep, sparks of brilliance right before bed. Welp I got the software installed and everything hooked up. Of course this was about 11:30pm, and sweet blessed Murphy's law the damn laptop wouldn't sent to the cutter. Le Sigh. At least I was wise enough to get my ass to bed before the hour got to late. And a good thing too. I'd already had enough trouble getting up knowing that just outside that front door the wonderful world of the -40's waited for me. *glee*

Tonight I will tackle the monster and make it submit to the might of the Vinyl goddess. Before all is said and done the vinyl cutter will know who it's new mistress is. "Say my name bitch!!"

Ah-um... anyway. Other then that life is peaceful and quiet. Work is slow so I amuse myself with sending wacky news links to my friends and hubby and drawing weird stupid pictures to stick on my bosses desk.

And on that note... it's almost quitting time. Go get my sexy hubby, grab some pizza, and head home. God I hope the dogs don't take long to go potty... I really don't want to freeze my ass off waiting for the dogs to go poop. ^.^

Give me Pen and Paper or give me Death!

  • Nov. 30th, 2007 at 4:57 PM

Muaha. Working on messing around with a program called FantasyGrounds. It lets you play classic Pen and paper such as D&D and Castles and Crusades over the net. With my Hubby GMing this could have much potential. We'll see what happens. Muahaha

More later. Its time to go home!

WoW and you....

  • Nov. 26th, 2007 at 11:41 AM

This week end was Thanksgiving weekend. I found myself more often then not playing WoW (Mostly because of boredom). By Sunday I was burnt. I felt myself growing more listless and board with the game. I've been playing WoW for almost 3 years now. I've seen some of the things I've wanted to see. And because I don't raid haven't seen others. But the real reason I joined the game was for the RP and friends. Lately the RP has been lukewarm at best. The top RP guilds don't do much of anything and to be honest most people don't feel like RPing. Its all been done. I heard a comment the other day about the guild I use to be in. "Their missing ANOTHER member? Do we need to put GPS trackers on everyone?" Just an example of the rehashed and rewashed story-lines.

I guess I'm just board. What I truly want is a good solid D&D or hero or Vampire group. But the people we've found up here to game with are... well... not friends. They game but we don't feel comfortable around them. I miss getting a big group of friends we can laugh, joke, and relax with. All playing a game we love. Its not for a lack of trying to meet new people.

I'm just restless.

Blah enough ranting. Maybe this will help me break away and start drawing again.

Updates and happy crap like that...

  • Oct. 22nd, 2007 at 12:47 PM

Welp last friday it became official. We purchased our business license. So now all my freelance work is laggit ^.^

Kinda messed up. I get paid 13.50 at my normal job for something I charge $40 an hour freelancing... somehow I think I'm getting screwed. Oh well.

On to bigger and better things like loving on my hubby.

Long over due update.

  • Sep. 25th, 2007 at 10:53 AM

Probably not a lot of folks still read my LJ mostly because I neglected the hell out of it ;)
Yes Jason I know your still there.

Welp here's an ubber update.

As of June 23rd I'm a happily married woman.
It was an amazing day. I could not have asked for a nicer wedding. Everything was perfect. There wasn't any family drama, everyone was all smiles and it just felt right. It was our day and I'll be damned if we didn't enjoy it.

Thank You Jason for taking the photos. You rock. Also thanks to Joe and Berta for coming all the way up to be our best man and maid of honor. Your two of the nicest friends a girl could ask for. And sooner or later I'll get your package off ;) Promise.

Here are a couple of the photos from that day. It still makes me smile.

All smiles on that day.

Can't have a wedding without ... bouncers? My brother and my adopted brother (well not really adopted but close enough)

Who knew an old Italian woman could run so fast ;)

Things have settled down since the wedding and we're enjoying married life. We found out on the 19th that our Alaska Dividend is $1654. This means I can finally start buying the equipment I need to start our business. I'll be ordering my vinyl cutter and laptop after Oct 3 and then I'm in business. Slowly we'll build things up. Our goal is to have our own shop within...oooh I'd say 3 years. *Cross fingers *

Life's just moving on and I'm happier then I've been in a long time. I love my husband. I love my home and I love my life. I'm one damn lucky girl.

Wedding stuffs

  • Feb. 10th, 2007 at 10:49 PM

Welp its been awhile since I posted so I figured I better get on it.

First off. I'm off of my WoW addiction. And it feels damn good. Like waking up after a long sleep.
I've started to loose weight and just in general doing good.

Now on to the good stuff.
I've picked out the material for my dress. We'll start working on it hopefully here in March.
I've got my cake topper bought and its so pretty.
The veil is going to take a bit of work. I picked up about 100 swaraski crystals to sew onto it. That's going to take a while. But I think its going to be pretty. White and purple.

We purchased Ed's mom's ticket today. So so far the family we have coming is my Mom's mom, my mom's two sisters. Ed's sister, his mom and his Aunt. I still don't know about my dad or his family but if they can't make it I don't think I'm going to be to heart broken since he hasn't lifted a finger to help. He sent me a gift card for christmas but I used that to buy wedding stuff.

Still not sure about Ed's Best man. We're crossing our fingers and hoping he makes it.
Sounds like my maid of honor is going to be able to make it. Berta is such a sweet heart. I can't wait for her and Joe to come up. I plan on making sure they both have a fantastic trip. I need to get a nice bed for the front bedroom so they have something to sleep on.

So much to do so little time.

Wedding planning

Two Words....

Lagistical nightmare....

More to some ... I hope...

Wha?

  • May. 19th, 2006 at 2:10 PM

This started a few weeks ago. I've been pestering my mom about her and I going to Minnesota for the big family reunion coming up in July. It would be nice too the pool of people from which I hail from. SOoo She calls me the other day, I knew she had airline miles and i've been goating her to get us tickets, anyway she gets us the tickets and then ask me if i'm sitting down. "We're going to Las Vegas." Wha!? I guess she worked our flight schedule so that we end up in Vegas for 3 days. Now the million $ question. How the hell am I going to beable to afford all fo this :/

Wedding Details

  • Apr. 22nd, 2006 at 12:24 PM

Welp Ed and I have finaly decided when and where we're going to have the wedding. After much hashing and rehashing the details. We've decided to have the wedding up here on either June 16 or 23 of 2007.

Now the real planning begins. Mom has already started looking at halls for us to have it at and i'm working on getting dress and such for the brides maids and goomsmen. Now normaly this would be easy. But I'm planning a renissance wedding and its a bit more tricky then your average wedding. The biggest problem I'm having is finding a dress for myself. I'll eventualy find something But its going to take a little bit of work and some saving. So begins the big project, this is to be one of the most important days of my life.
